Every time we pick up a weight, the first thought should be keeping the core tight. Whether you’re about to attempt a new squat PR or just putting your weights away after the workout, think core first. Not only does this prevent injury and maintain correct form, but who couldn’t use a little extra core work?
Surprisingly some of the best exercises to develop core strength are not what we would label as “core exercises”. Squats, deadlifts, and compound movements that involve multiple joints and muscles are much more effective than many typical ab exercises. Stop wasting time with crunches and learn how to lift weights. Your abs and your back will thank you.
